NAME THE NEW RINK
With the very premature talk about a new ice rink for the Detroit Red Wings, what would you name the new stadium? I believe Joe Louis Arena is the only NHL rink not named for a corporation of some sort. [I'm not sure about Jo Bing arena in the desert, is that Dave Bing's brother?] Obviously, Little Caesar's would be the front runner, and possibly the only option. In keeping with the non corporate moniker, I would propose Olympia Stadium at Ilitch Place. Street address of 9 Howe Avenue. Your turn.

They should call the new one the Joe Louis Arena
In all honesty, while it wouldn’t shock me to see a corporate name on it (because it makes business sense), I would be surprised to see Little Caesar’s. Ilitch would essentially be paying himself to use his arena’s naming rights (assuming the city or whomever the hell pays for the arena doesn’t retain those for their own ability to sell).

This
The whole reasoning behind naming rights is to offset arena costs

Lidstrom Arena at the Yzerman Center Presented by Little Caesars.
In all seriousness, I would bet it ends up with a corporate name.
Goalies are enforcers too.

There is already an Amway Center in Orlando which replaced Amway Arena

There's also the Rogers Centre in Toronto and Rogers Arena in Vancouver.

That is true, but naming two arenas the same thing seems odd unless there is another suffix they can use, even if Amway Arena is being demolished next year. Amway Stadium? Amway View? I honestly like that last one. We could call it The View instead of anything Amway related.

I get that. But having two stadiums named EXACTLY the same thing — ie Amway Arena — makes zero sense

Considering that Amway Arena in Orlando
is no longer used by any professional teams at any level and is expected to be demolished. By the time the Wings got a new rink, this naming issue wouldn’t matter. Also, who cares if there was two Amway Arenas. The one with the Wings is going to get WAY more mention than an old arena in Orlando that no one uses. Would still be worth Amway’s money.

I know all of that, I just find it weird that there would be two arenas with the same name, even if they don’t exist simultaneously or anywhere near each other
Granted, the biggest issue here is that I want nothing to do with Amway

This will get me killed but
Ericsson Globe West? After all, there was a Fillmore West and the Swedish Nation team plays at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm.

Bingo! How fun! But, I digress. Where were we? HL
The Hudlerdrome
With some seriousness, I certainly hope it doesn’t get a corporate name because it is one of the few that currently doesn’t have one…JLA, MSG, and NVMC are it.

Are you sure

Amway Arena at Olympia Stadium
You partner a nouveau-riche company with an old money name. Perfect.
It would have to be Amway Rink at Olympia Stadium.
The best part is none of us would call it Amway Rink. And to say we are going to Olympia to see the Wings would be awesome and make up for it not being The Joe.

WhereRoadWinningStreaksGoToDie.com Arena

Please not a corporate name
I love that the Wings don’t play in a corporate named arena. As much as we wouldn’t use it…the tv commentators would be forced to. I’d be happy with many of the above suggestions: Olympia Stadium, Joe Lewis Arena, Howe Arena.
We could even call it Hockeytown Arena.
It’s Joe Louis not Lewis.
How about Brown Bomber Arena (Joe Louis’ nickname)
"Pavel Datsyuk is Magic."
Brown Bomber sounds good
But if we’re gonna go the not-corporate route, staying JLA would be AWESOME.
