I'm new but I could care less this is a very important point...
Yeah so your telling me that Zetterberg, Franzen, Lidstrom, White, Filppula, Hudler, Kronwall, Datsyuk, Bertuzzi and a few others can not cycle the damn puck in the offensive zone? Our PP is atrocious and your telling me with the talent we have we can't even generate a shot on most PPs?
I'm watching the Wings and Nucks game and after the 1st period we are 0-3 and have 1 or 2 shots... we can't even enter the damn zone and if we do we are swarmed! This happened against Chicago the other night and in many other games, when Lids retires I don't even want to imagine what the hell is going to happen for our special teams it is absolutely pathetic most nights watching them might as well throw away 2 minutes in the game. And on the one PP we gave up some odd man rushes because of our horrible entries into the zone our skilled european players don't go in the corners because they are out muscled by somebody bigger and can get a dirty shot on them and have nobody come put the other guy in his place or at least make em think twice about it, if I was a guy like Kesler i'd be so happy playing the Wings because I know a hard hitting aggressive fore check is all it takes to break the Wings.
Don Cherry is somewhat right. No, we don't need a dirty enforcer on our team to fight all the time but yes we do need size and strength on our top 6, Bertuzzi is great but he is too old and no longer the premier power forward who consistently goes into the corners or drives the net and Franzen? I love the guy especially in the playoffs but this guy is a major disappointment and most night doesn't even look interested and we are trying to say he's our big power forward? No, Ryan Kesler is a power forward love him or hate him he actually drives and if he was playing for Detroit he'd be surpassing Franzen. And don't go around saying Jimmy Howard is our enforcer 'he doesn't take shit' yeah keep that up in the playoffs how long do you think he will last?
I'm not saying we need to be 100% every night or even 50% but would it kill the team to get 2-3 shots per power play? I'm tired of the same old stupid argument that 'skill and puck possession wins games", yea I totally agree it wins most games but do you honestly believe we would survive 7 games against bigger and equally (or almost) skilled teams such as Philly or Boston?
