There is no way I’m F’ing someone named “Flo”
Our lack of trades
Let’s not forget something. The GM’s that were really active yesterday (Nashville and Vancouver ) haven’t won the cup before. They have more pressure to win now than Detroit does. Nashville also had to make legitimate moves and progress to make a case for Suter and Weber to stay. Gillis is in all likelihood playing for his job if Vancouver doesn’t make it back to the cup. Holland has the luxury to wait and see what happens this year, not over pay, and put the Wings in good position in case there is a decrease in the salary cap for next year.
Meant to say Vigneault, not Gillis
Vigneault is coaching for his job

I gotta feeling...
that a lot of the Red Wings fans would have liked to see a trade just for the sake of entertainment value in bringing in a new talent. This team has had very little changes made in the past 2-3 years, but its obvious that’s by design. This front office is the best. This coaching staff is the best. The way this team develops and scouts talent is the best. The way this team plays hockey is the best. This organization is the best. They know what they are doing, and anyone who honestly thinks that they could manage the best team in sports better than the current staff is ab-so-lutely shit for brains.
Would Holland have liked to trade for a guy that would make this team a little bigger, sure. However, the costs for any player that would accomplish that were beyond what that player would have added to the team. Holland knows the Red Wings better than any of us do. Holland knows what it would have cost to make a trade yesterday. He didn’t, because it was the best option for the team to stay pat.
The Red Wings are not the team they are today by accident, every decision made is highly calculated.
