Let's get to the cool stuff first. The Philadelphia Flyers will be retiring Mark Howe's #2 at the Wells Fargo Center tonight. Mark is the highest-scoring Philadelphia Flyers' defenseman in the franchise's history and currently serves as the Red Wings' Chief Pro Scout. It should be a great ceremony honoring one of the best hockey players to ever come out of Detroit.
As for the game itself? This is going to be a matchup of two strong teams which are both battling the injury bug. Detroit will be without the services of Nicklas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk, Jimmy Howard, Jakub Kindl, Todd Bertuzzi, Patrick Eaves, Jonathan Ericsson, and your mother. Meanwhile, Philly will skate without Chris Pronger, Kimmo Timonen, Andrej Meszaros, and James van Riemsdyk (leaving only the people with easily-spelled names in their lineup, apparently).
Detroit needs a win.
Comment away and let's go Red Wings.
