Are Gustav Nyquist and Brendan Smith eligible? I think they have a really good shot at contending for it. When was the last time a rookie defenseman won it? Both are under the limit of games to no longer be considered a rookie I believe.

Maybe others in the system could contend as well? I don't think Tatar has it from what we've seen. Maybe Pulkinnen, Jurco, or Jarnkrok in the further future?
