TRANSACTION: The rights to defenseman Brad Stuart have been traded to San Jose for a conditional pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
— Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) June 10, 2012
The deal is reported by the Sharks as a deal which sends Brad Stuart to San Jose for 30-year old Center Andrew Murray (also a UFA-to-be) and a conditional 7th round pick in the 2014 NHL draft.
No word yet on what those conditions will be, but we'll update when we have them. It's been well-known since the trade deadline that Brad Stuart's family situation would draw him to California, where his wife and children live.
[Update 1: Fear the Fin reports the obvious: that the condition for the 7th rounder be Brad Stuart signing with the Sharks this summer]
