Good morning. Hope you slept well after watching Ray Shero make the league his bitch. Today, we have day 2 of the NHL draft, the day the Red Wings actually get to do stuff. Before we get to that, let's briefly recap some of the highlights.

For full SB Nation NHL Draft Coverage, check in at the Main Hub Draft Page.

First off, the Oilers took Nail Yakupov with the first overall pick.

Shortly after that, the Ducks traded Lubomir Visnovsky to the Islanders in exchange for their 2nd round pick.

A bit later, the real bombshell dropped. Pittsburg gave Jordan Staal to Carolina for the 8th overall pick, Brandon Sutter, and Brian Dumolin.

The Washington Capitals used one of the two picks they got for Semyon Varlamov from Colorado to take a guy named Forsberg. Awesome.

Steve Yzerman used the pick Detroit gave up for Kyle Quincey to draft goaltender Andrei Vasilevski. At the time, Finnish D Olli Maatta was still on the board. TSN Had him ranked as the 10th-best draft choice. He ended up going to Pittsburgh at pick #22

Dallas traded Mike Ribeiro to Washington in exchange for Cody Eakin and the Caps' 2nd rounder.

In troll pick news, the Bruins took Malcolm Subban, brother of PK Subban, who plays for Boston's rival the Montreal Canadiens. The New Jersey Devils also used the first round pick they refused to forfeit to grab Stefan Matteau, the son of the guy who did this to them in 1994.

After the first round ended, the Penguins also traded Zbynek Michalek to Phoenix for a pick, two prospects, and to give Pittsburgh enough salary cap space to make them a player in the Zach Parise or Ryan Suter sweepstakes.

So what did the Central do?

Columbus took D Ryan Murray 2nd overall.

The Blackhawks took F Teuvo Teravainen 18th overall.

St. Louis took D Jordan Schmaltz at 25th overall.
