So I figured since our old roster fantasy thread got buried, and we now know that TPH is leaving us, we could start to look again at what our roster may look like next year.
The offseason Cap will be just a smidge over 70 million dollar cheeseburgers, but I went slightly under that, just to be safe.
If you don't feel like reading all of my nonsense, feel free to skip to the comments and redo your own rosters with what we know now.
What we know the organ-i-zation wants to add in the offseason
- A top-6 scoring winger
- At least one top-4 Dman
- Size and grit to our bottom six(at least one player)
- A backup goaltender, due to potential problems with Joey Mac's back.
We can also assume a couple of things, if only because of the Red Wings way
- Darren Helm will be resigned.
- Quincey will get at least a qualifying offer(if only because we traded a first round pick for him)
- Danny Cleary will be on the roster next season
- Abby will likely be given a new contract(Though for the sake of my roster, I pretended someone beat our offer)
I decided that, given a longggg time deal, there's a good shot we could get Parise and Suter's cap hits below 8mil each. I set Parise's at 7.25m and Suters at 7.5 for the sake of argument. Given the possibility for a salary roll-back and the cap space I left, feel free to raise those numbers in your head if it makes you feel better.
In the last thread, I had suggested Knuble as a pickup I liked, and guessed at a salary number at 1.5m. Most people thought(probably correctly) that this number was too large. Someone posited on twitter earlier this week that he would probably accept 500,000-750,000 and I decided I wanted it.
With Abby walking due to my scheming, we'd need another 4th line center(enjoy the Kindl lounge, Cory!), and Gaustad would be a great guy to have taking defensive zone faceoffs.
I pushed Mursak back to the AHL, because Nyquist deserves the time more, and left Tatar there, because he has one more year of being waiver-exempt.

Also, just for fun, I wanted to make one roster that I don't think is ever going to happen, but I think would kick some serious ass. We trade Franzen, Miller, and Kindl for Rick Nash. Sign Jason Garrison, Ryan Suter, Mike Knuble, Zach Parise and a Marty Turco-esque goalie. Recall Tatar to sit in the Kindl lounge with Mursak.
I had to guess at Garrison's contract number, since his cap hit was only 600,000 this year and I guess I may be way off, but with $1.75m cap space, I guess he could get bumped up a little bit more.
Anyways, here's my dream roster that will never happen.

If anyone actually read through all that, thanks. I just wanted us to have another rosterbation thread easily accessible.
Feel free to tear them apart, call me names(anything but Pierre McGuire), worship me, etc.
