What's the opposite of Rosterbation?

Ok, so the "Free Agent Frenzy" never really materialized and the "Aggressive" approach to the off season only amounted to making an offer. So where does that leave the Red Wings for next season? At this moment, my perception of what is happening, is that the Red Wings brain trust is waiting for the CBA to be completed. If there is a rollback of the salary cap, there may be numerous players bought out and available. I personally am hoping this is the case.

Well let's take a look at the forward roster as it stands. (For this discussion, I'm going to ignore the Defense core and hope Kenny has a rabbit in his hat.)

The Wings currently have 15 forwards under contract (if you include Abdelkeder) and only 2 on two-way contracts (Nyquist and Brunner). Of those not on two-way deals 3 have "no trade" clauses (I am not including Cleary as his has expired). So here are some options we have:

Worst Case, (nothing changes):

FORWARDS
Todd Bertuzzi / Pavel Datsyuk / Johan Franzen
Valtteri Filppula / Henrik Zetterberg / Mikael Samuelsson
Drew Miller / Darren Helm / Danny Cleary
Justin Abdelkader / Cory Emmerton / Jordin Tootoo

Jan Mursak / Patrick Eaves

In this scenario the two player with the two-way contracts get sent down keeping depth in the organization. The lines look a lot like they did last year. The minor adjustments are Samuelsson for Hudler and Tootoo for Holmstrom.

The next case gets tricky. Bring in the kids:

FORWARDS
Gustav Nyquist / Pavel Datsyuk / Johan Franzen
Valtteri Filppula / Henrik Zetterberg / Damien Brunner
Todd Bertuzzi / Darren Helm / Mikael Samuelsson
Danny Cleary / Justin Abdelkader / Jordin Tootoo
Drew Miller / Cory Emmerton

In this scenario Nyquist and Brunner are placed on their natural playing wing and slotted into the top two lines where the need is greatest. (Part of the reasoning here is that Babcock was quoted as saying that Samuelsson is a third line scoring option. Holland was also quoted as saying if we don't bring in the young guys we are moving backwards.)

So further down the roster we are left with our NTC candidates, young centers and newly acquired Tootoo.

Mursak is beat out by Emmerton (as he was last year) due to being a canter, and Miller beats out Eaves due to health and his career year last year. (Youth is wasted by bringing in youth.) With these two beeing beat out for roster spaces, they would have to be waived and likely lost for nothing.

Trade Case, and my personal favorite:

FORWARDS
Bobby Ryan / Pavel Datsyuk / Johan Franzen
Valtteri Filppula / Henrik Zetterberg / Damien Brunner
Danny Cleary / Darren Helm / Mikael Samuelsson
Gustav Nyquist / Cory Emmerton / Jordin Tootoo
Jan Mursak / Patrick Eaves

In this scenario the Ducks are looking for a second line center to trade Ryan, but I propose we trade an entire shutdown third line. We give them Bertuzzi, Abby, and Miller. There roster is currently sitting at 19 players so they need the bodies. They have relationships with Bertuzzi and Miller (both played for them before). Abby plays their rough style of game. It feels like a good fit for them and we clear some roster space. (Berts NTC is modified, so he may wave it. If not then Cleary becomes his replacement in the deal.) This boosts our scoring on the top lines, and infuses youth while keeping the future in the organization.

As a side note, if Brunner isn't ready for NHL play, we can bring up Tatar. Also, I think it has become apparent that Semin is not currently in the picture for the Wings and the Doan situation is playing out in the favor of the Coyotes staying put. So I don't believe either of these players are an option.

So what is the opposite of Rosterbation? Trying to figure out what you would do with what you have. Which scenaro do you like or dislike and why? What is your line-up?
