The Griffins defeated the visiting Milwaukee Admirals for the second night in a row, adding insult to injury by walloping them for a 5-0 shutout. Much like Friday night, the game was a physical contest, featuring several fights, including a pair between Jordan Tootoo and Michael Liambas. Cory Emmerton led the way offensively with two goals and two assists on the night. The Griffins also got goals from Calle Jarnkrok (8), Landon Ferraro (7), and Andrej Nestrasil (3). Thomas McCollum, making his third straight start in the absence of Petr Mrazek, posted his first shutout of the season and his 9th win.

Less than 30 seconds in, Liambas challenged Tootoo. Both landed blows until Tootoo went to the ice. Just shy of the three minute mark, Emmerton took a pass from Pulkkinen, ran up the slot and snapped a shot past Hellberg stick-side. A minute and a half later Jarnkork fought his way into the circle and lifted the puck in over Hellberg for a 2-0 lead. Tootoo and Liambas had a rematch midway through the third. Tootoo landed a few shots before losing his balance and going down. McCollum made a huge save late, doing the splits to keep the puck out. Shots on Goal: GR 7 - Mil 11.

Early in the second, the Griffins made it 3-0 when Marchenko's point shot hit Ferraro's stick in the slot and sailed past Hellberg. A few minutes later, Hellberg came way out of the net to play the puck on the powerplay, but Ferraro beat him to it and hit Emmerton for an easy shorthanded goal into an empty net. The Griffins appeared to score just after the powerplay ended, but it was waived off. McCollum came up big again, making the initial stop, and then keeping the puck out despite being jampiled on. Shots on Goal: GR 8 - Mil 12.

McCollum flashed the glove to rob an Admiral's player of a great scoring chance on the doorstep. Tootoo nearly snuck his own rebound past Hellberg, but it just stayed out. Tootoo smoked Liambas and ran him over in front of the Ad's bench. Nestrasil made it 5-0 on the powerplay when he banged his own rebound past Hellberg right in front. Jarvinen and Evans came to blows by the Griffins net in a very one-sided bout with Evans the victor. Shots on Goal: GR 9 - Mil 12. For the Game: GR 28 - Mil 31.

Observations:

Great night by McCollum, he made great saves all night, and just looked unbeatable. The last two games he had some shaky moments and did not look confident, but tonight he was on.

Emmerton quietly had a four point night, perhaps a little motivated by his latest demotion from the NHL and subsequently clearing waivers with no takers again.

Nice to see Ferraro starting to heat up again after a slow start. He had a couple of goals on the weekend and several quality scoring chances.
