This game would be much more fun if the Red Wings weren't desperate for a win. Getting revenge for last season's first round playoff loss to the Predators would be ideal. Watching Jordin Tootoo skate like crazy again his old team is going to be exciting. But, instead, to be honest, I don't care about much of that tonight. I just want to see the Red Wings end their losing steak.

Three straight games and three straight losses. Only one loss has come with a charity point. Nashville on the other hand is the best team in the league at prolonged losing. They lose more than they win, but they lead the league in overtime/regulation losses. In a short season that will be the difference for them when it comes to making the playoffs. Ultimately, I don't really care about this rivalry or anything like that tonight. The Wings need two points and they need them desperately. I hope like hell they play like it on the ice.

Mike Babcock seems to be making some changes in the lineup for tonight. Tomas Tatar is being rewarded for his solid play by moving up to the second line. Daniel Cleary has taken is rightful spot in the bottom six. Hopefully Tatar can help jump start Mikael Samuelsson's play and get him in in the goal column. The kid has been one of the few bright spots the past couple games. Tatar will also get a shot on the power play. He'll be the net front guy on the first unit with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. Niklas Kronwall and Samuelsson will be at the point. Tatar has wanted this chance. Let's hope he grabs it and doesn't let go.

  • The Red Wings are 46-24-4-7 (W-L-T-OTL) all-time against the Nashville Predators.
  • Detroit has lost a season high three games in a row. Nashville dropped a 6-5 game to the Avalanche yesterday afternoon in Denver. It was their second consecutive loss.
  • Last time these two teams squared off was April 20, 2012. It's a night I'm sure we'd all rather forget. It was the final game of the Wings season and the final game of Nicklas Lidstrom's career. Detroit lost 2-1 and dropped their first round playoff series 4-1. Jiri Hudler scored the lone goal. Howard made 21 saves.
  • Detroit is 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. Nashville is 6-2-2.
  • Jimmy Howard is 6-5-1 with a 2.42 GAA and .916 SV% with one shutout in 13 career starts against the Predators.
Prediction: Nashville wins 2-1. Howard is your player of the game.

Let's Go Red Wings.
