Twice in the past 12 months the Red Wings have lost a key player to injury, and it took that injury to see how valuable they are to the lineup. Last year, Ericsson. This year, Franzen/Bertuzzi. I'm wondering if the same could be said of Cleary. If he missed substantial time, would we miss him just the same? Don't jump to you're vitriol hatred and say "No!" just because he's not showing up on the stat-sheet. Does he do enough other things on the ice to be a more valuable contributor to the lineup than Tatar, Nyquist, or anyone else.
With that being said, I have felt this year might go this way. No, I didn't have a premonition about the injuries, just the constant struggle. I didn't expect Kronwall to over night become an elite defensive leader and anchor the blue line. But I did expect his offensive numbers to be better.
With Franzen and Bertuzzi out, for who knows how long exactly (though rumor has it that Franzen will return soon)...I'd really like to see some of the bigger guys from Grand Rapids to come play a couple games here and there.
Callahan - 6' 200lbs (RH shot)
Sheahan - 6'2 212lbs
Parkes - 6'2 202lbs (RH shot)
Aubry - 6'4 208lbs
For example (now that Mursak is gone):
Filppula - Zetterberg - Brunner (RH)
Tatar - Datsyuk - Parkes (RH)
Abby - Andersson - Eaves (RH)
Miller - Emmerton - Tootoo (RH)
