Today was like most any other day for me. I woke up this morning, had my coffee and then took a shower. Though I admit, my nose is still a little sore from the goalie stick that I took to the face on the ice last night, (yes I'm getting a shield!), the day began as normal. As I was getting dressed, I was looking through my t-shirt pile and deliberately bypassed pulling on one of many t shirts that I own that are emblazened with the Detroit Red Wings iconic winged wheel.

See, it is a game day and the Wings will be facing the Edmonton Oilers this afternoon. And that means that I, unfortunately, absolutely cannot wear a Red Wings t-shirt, jersey, sweatshirt of any kind.

Now I am not superstitious in any way, I KNOW that my t-shirt selection has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with whether or not the Red Wings play a perfect game (Like they did on Thurs against St. Louis, when I wore my band's t-shirt) or a terrible game like they had last Saturday against the Blue Jackoffs. (when I mistakenly wore my #19 2002 Stanly Cup Champions Steve Yzerman jersey to play pond hockey).

I went to the opening game in Detroit against Dallas, wearing my cursed Yzerman jersey. Wings lost.

Are you starting to notice a pattern developing here? No shit. I wore my Red Wings hooded sweatshirt when the Wings played the Blackhawks. Wings lost. I wore a Red Wings tshirt UNDER a black sweatshirt the night they played Calgary. Wings lost.

Today, I wore a new Under Armour sweatshirt with a Danzig tshirt underneath. WINGS WIN!

As of today this season, the Wings have lost 100% of the games in which I wore any article of clothing with their emblem and they have won 100% of the games on a day in which I did not. Needless to say, I will no longer be wearing anything Red Wings related on the game days. Period. So prepare yourselves for an undefeated rest of the season! ( I wish this were true!)

I am curious to know what other stupid game day rituals, superstitions, lucky charms and curses that some of my fellow Red Wings fans have experienced. No matter how ridiculous it seems and no matter how much you (like ME) KNOW that your ritual will have absolutely NO effect on the outcome of the game, you still do it anyway.
