If the signing of Howard is accurate, then for at least the next 4 seasons the Wings will have over 15 million in cap space used up. Think about that, Hank is still a good player but his decline is evident and one can only imagine what he looks like in 4 years. Problem is, he will be getting 7.5 million each season until then and won't be going anywhere. The Mule makes 5 million the next three seasons and 3.5 in 4 years, I imagine he will want the payday as well. The cap hit for both players are 6.1 million and 3.9 million, factor in Howie at 5.3 million and we are looking at 20-25% of the teams threshold for 3 players that won't be that great. Good luck trading either Hank or Mule with those cap hits and relying on Howard is scary at best. Howie has never been great so at almost 30 years of age I don't see that changing. I love the Wings but I think the next 5-10 years are going to be Dead Wing years all over again.
