Remember when Brian Lashoff was send back down to Grand rapids on Sunday? Just kidding, he's staying with the team. Because of the new CBA rules (which there's been a bit of confusion over), if the Wings send Lashoff down to Grand Rapids, the only way they can call him back up before the playoffs is in an emergency. In this case an emergency is defined as 3 defensemen being injured and unable to play. That being the case, the Wings decided to just keep Lashoff up.
Just a note, but with these new CBA rules in place, the Wings can't call Tomas Tatar up before the playoffs, unless 3 (I think) forwards were injured and unable to play.
Zetterberg practiced for a little while on Tuesday, but didn't participate in the optional skate this morning. That's not unusual since he's still nursing a sore groin.
There's some really exciting news on the Bertuzzi front. He been skating more and practicing with the team, and making progress. The kind of progress that lead him to say he may be ready to play on Monday against Phoenix. It's not certain, but it's more hope than we've had in a while, I'll take it.
Darren Helm has also been skating more and working into practice with the rest of the team, but still no indication that he'll be able to play this season.
Mikael Samuelsson was the only player not on the ice for practice yesterday, which means.... he's probably not playing soon.
There will be no Jerome Iginla nor Jay Bouwmeester for the Flames this time around, and Miikka Kiprusoff will start in net tonight for what could be his last home game. He has said he may retire at the end of the season, but nothing it certain yet. This means that unless Kipper gets pulled, we won't be seeing Joey MacDonald in net tonight.
