The past season of 2013 proved to be a roller coaster of emotions. I believed that the Red Wings were not going to make it to the playoffs, but they proved me wrong. We upset the second place Anaheim Ducks by frustrating the hell out of Ryan Getzlaf and playing the Mohammad Ali style of rope-a-dope hockey. Then came the Blackhawks. I believed the Wings would be eliminated in five games, but again I was wrong. Having a three to one series lead over the first place team, the Chi-town Hawks. All it took was one win. One win to get the Wings in round three to face the L.A. Kings. One win to probably upset the Stanley Cup champions of last year. But again, the Wings proved me wrong again. The Hawks had the momentum and in the playoffs, when you haven't done something in a while, well..... You're due. And they did. Three straight games that the Wings lost. Three blown opportunities to move on. If the Wings would have eliminated the Blackhawks, then I believed they could have gone all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. I believe it. I even believed that the Wings could have beaten the Boston Bruins to win the Cup. But the question for next season is what will happen next? The Wings were assertive in the free agency market this year and they got rid of some dead weight. Could the Wings make a better run next year in the playoffs? Or will they prove me wrong again?
