Interesting Stat Comparison Day

I was curious about the total number of games played by the Red Wings players that skated last night as compared to Alfie and Kronner.... That comparison did not pan out to being productive for anything useful outside of giving me something to do while at work this morning.

I did however stumble upon an interesting comparison. Based on stats recorded from NHL.COM this morning... I do not know how quickly they get them updated but it is what I drew from.

#40 Years 02 - 03

79 games played (Reg season)

22G/22A and was +6 math worked out to .56 points/game

#13 Years 01 - 03

70 games played (Reg season)

11G/24A and was +4 math worked out to .5 points/game

#21 Years 10-14

71 games played (Red Wings regular season games)

17G/13A and was +5 math worked out to .42 points/game

#14 Years 11-14

68 games played (Red Wings regular season games)

13G/17A and was +6 math worked out to .44 points/game

I have thought (and many seem to agree) that Tatar and Nyquist reminded me of the early days of Pav and Z. I got lucky today and the stat comparison worked out without any major algorithms. (the one thing to consider is that Pav and Z played all their games in a single season rather than over a couple of seasons)

I am guilty of expecting a lot from Red Wing players (previous comments about Smith), but when I boil it down to looking at things like this. I think we are getting exactly what we all hope for... the next generation Red Wing stars.

So being as it was still slow at work I looked at Kronner and DDK

#55 Years 03-06

47 Games played (Red Wings regular season)

2G/12A and was +16

#65 Years 12 - 14

48 Games played (Red Wings Reg season)

2G/9A and was +5

I thought the +/- was strange but when I stopped to think about who was playing around Kronner (do not remember actual line mates) I remember that the Red Wings of that year were much better all around than the supporting cast that surrounds DDK today. I also do not remember Kronner getting top line minutes. So once again I am left with the conclusion that with DDK we are getting exactly what we hoped for.... the next Red Wings star.

Draw your own conclusions based on this information... I was not as excited as I had hoped when I looked up Stevie Y and the Perfect Humans entry year stats

#5 Years 91-92

80 Games played (Red Wings Reg season)

11G/49A and was +36

#19 Years 83-84

80 Games played (Red Wings Reg season)

39G/48A and was -17 math works out to 1.09 points/game

Stars we got... Super stars we had.
