NHL Draft Open Thread: Draftin' It In Motown

Mike Stobe

We made it. It's finally draft time. Good conversation today though; I suggest we keep it going.

The Wings need to start restocking the prospect pool behind the group of kids who are near NHL readiness. They're not going to get a kid who's ready to step right into the NHL. All the tea leaves say they'll take a skater instead of a goalie, but consensus is mixed over whether they want a big D-man, a bit more center depth, or a scoring winger. That is of course very helpful since those are pretty much the only three types of skaters any team should be going with in the first round.

We'll be with you tonight as the draft unfolds. I'm looking forward to seeing the trades more than the picks. What are you most looking forward to?
