Wings 3, Predators 2 (SO)

Despite having a 2-0 lead for most of the game, the Predators were able to score the tying goal to send it into overtime with 1:24 remaining. The game had to head into a shootout with Chris Osgood stopping both Predators' attempts while Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg both scored their shootout goals. Osgood's now off to a 8-0-0 start this season, the best of his career.

Head coach Mike Babcock was pleased to see that the five day break did not have a negative impact on his team's play last night.

"I've been nervous for five days," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said of his team's break before facing the Predators. "We did better than I expected early on. It was good to see guys other than Zetterberg and Datsyuk score on the power play."

Zetterberg did not score during the game, but he did earn an assist on Jiri Hudler's goal extending his scoring streak to 15 games, a franchise record for a point in consecutive games to start a season. He's scored 12 goals and notched 13 assists in those 15 games.

"It's fun to break the record, but it's easy to do that when you play with a good team," Zetterberg said. "We're winning, and I'm playing with good players." ...

"He's been awesome," Chris Osgood said after making 28 saves. "He's one of the best players in the league right now. I mean, everybody knew he was good last year -- just, people don't talk about him very much. Right now, he's probably the best player. He's our guy right now."

Dan Cleary scored the game's first goal.
