Some interesting news regarding the arena situation in Detroit. I really hope they turn the Joe into some type of museum for Detroit sports. Either way, going to be sad day when they finally do move from there.
This is still the greatest hockey game I've ever watched.
We're not #1 on the list but as for ruining sports we were the source that started it and it was Florida that took it to ridiculous levels. As for an Octopi hitting the ice after every playoff goal that stretching the truth. On a side note I'm sure everyone here will agree that #1 is one of the most annoying things to happen to sports ever. It was the main reason I muted the TV during the World Cup. God forbid if they start handing them out at hockey games.
The hits just keep on coming. Word is that Todd Bertuzzi is out of Wednesday's game against the Canucks due to back pain. It will be the first game the Tuzz has missed in his second stint with the Wings. Per Khan(!), Datsyuk, Hudler and Franzen will all sit out for the game, but Osgood might be back. No word on what the Wings will do, since they have no salary cap space to call anyone up. Anyone know any forwards willing to play for free?
Well, we've all heard the news: reports are that the Red Wings are close to signing a deal with former Shark Evgeni Nabokov, who had been toiling in the KHL. Everything is still being kept under wraps, but we'll have a post up once we know more. Keep in mind that if a deal is signed with him, he needs to clear waivers before officially becoming a part of the team.
Toronto did us a favor and signed Brett Lebda today.
WCSX-FM's (94.7) Jamie Samuelsen takes his shot at defending Jimmy Howard. It seems spot-on to me and is the perfect read for those who appear to think Jimmy is part of the problem rather than the solution. Check out the link for all the details.
Saw this interesting article dismorning on my local paper's site... thought it might be of some interest. Being born in Saginaw and living in Florida for most my life...going to Tampa games, I happen to be both a Bolts and Wings fan. My true love lays in Detroit though, of course. So can't help but to have some mixed emotions on this possible move. On one hand I think it couldn't be a better move for the Lightning and am all for it. On the other hand I have always imagined Stevie Y staying in Detroit for life. I don't know what to think... Feel bad for even posting this at such a crucial time in the year, but didn't want it to go without mention. Guess I'm just not going to worry about this 'till the off-season. Until then we've got a Cup to get back and their's chum in the water!! GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
