The Detroit Red Wings (10-2-1) will finish their western Canada roadtrip tonight in Calgary when they take on the Flames (6-3-3) tonight at 8pm (EST). The game will be shown on FSN Detroit.
Goaltender Dominik Hasek will miss tonight's game as he isn't ready to return from his irritated hip injury. Head coach Mike Babcock is hoping to see him in net in the Wing's next game, which is next Wednesday (November 7). Chris Osgood will get the start and he hopes to extend his season record to 7-0-0. Jimmy Howard, the Wings goaltender of the future, will be the backup.
Defenseman Niklas Kronwall is still out with an injured groin so Derek Meech will fill in his spot on the roster tonight.
Defenseman Niklas Kronwall skated for 20 minutes, but wasn’t allowed to do more than that for fear of aggravating his sore groin.
"It didn’t go the way I wanted it to, but they said they wanted me for not too long out there," Kronwall said, referring to trainers. "Usually when you come back from injury they don’t want you out there too long the first day."
Babcock hinted that he may insert Aaron Downey into the lineup because of the toughness he would bring against a very physical Flames squad. Who would be removed? If I had to guess, I'd say Dallas Drake because with his full-face mask due to the fractured cheekbone, he can't be as physical as usual and that's the best part of his game.
