Lidstrom agrees to two year extension

Captain Nicklas Lidstrom has agreed to a two year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings. He will make $7.45 million over the next two years, which is a slight drop in pay from the $7.6 million he has been making since the lockout.

"Nick has been the best defenceman in the world for several years," Red Wings general manger Ken Holland said in a statement.  "He's a great captain and role model who does everything right both on and off the ice. We're proud to have him continue as a Red Wing for another two years."
