GDT: Wings vs. Avalanche

After shutting out the St. Louis Blues last night in a 5-0 victory, the Detroit Red Wings (27-7-3) head into Colorado to face the Avalanche (21-13-2), who have earned at least a point in the last six games.

Avalanche captain Joe Sakic has missed the last 12 games due to a groin injury. Ryan Smyth, who Colorado acquired this summer, has missed the last three due to a neck strain. He is questionable for tonight's game.

Henrik Zetterberg (back spasms) and Tomas Holmstrom (knee) lead the team in goals, but both will be unable to play tonight due to injury. Despite missing these two and Kirk Maltby in the last two games, Detroit has outscored its opponents 9-1.

Detroit has the best home record in the league (16-2-1) and Colorado sits in second (15-3-0). The Avalanche have won their last five straight home games.

The game starts at 9pm and will be shown on FSN Detroit. Go Wings!
