The Detroit Red Wings took on the Royal Oak Fire Fighters this afternoon in a charity softball game to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Wings came from behind to win, 23-19. Around 2000 people showed up at Memorial Field in Royal Oak to watch the game. The game started at 2pm, an hour after the gates opened. As a Wings public relations intern, I arrived at 10am and didn't leave until 5:30pm after cleanup. Due to my positioning at the game (at a table selling raffle tickets), I did not get to watch the game and didn't even know the Wings won until after it was over.
The Detroit Free Press has 8 photos up in a gallery from the fun event.
