The Detroit Red Wings came from behind to tie and then win the game in its final period, 3-2. Veteran defenseman and captain Nicklas Lidstrom scored the game winning goal. He also assisted on the two other goals by Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom.
"I was aiming on the blocker side. There were two or three bodies in front of the net and I knew Holmer was one of them," Lidstrom said. "I just tried to pick the blocker side corner. If Holmer's not there, he's probably going to see the puck and make the save."
Unfortunately, Niklas Kronwall was injured by a check during the game and did not return. A CT Scan on his clavicle came back negative. He is expected to miss 7-10 days. While injuries are never a good thing, at least this one is more on the minor side.
You could definitely tell the team was a bit rusty from the All-Star break (it was their first game back) so things weren't quite as crisp as usual. But when it counted, they stepped up and were able to earn those two points.
Phoenix was quite unhappy that they ended up with no points after being up 2-1. Phoenix lost all four games to Detroit in the season series and iterestingly in each game, Phoenix was up 2-1 at some point in the game.
