My spring break starts tomorrow and as a result, I will be in NYC for the weekend and then volunteering in Detroit for the rest of the week and will not have internet access. Unfortunately, my spring break lands over the trade deadline which sucks. I will do my best to post on Tuesday morning before I leave for Detroit if something important (ie. a signing or trade) relevant to the Wings has happened by then. Otherwise, you'll have to look elsewhere for your trade deadline coverage- sorry! Since I will be gone until next Sunday, here are some brief game previews for all the games I won't be here for.
Friday, February 22nd vs. Calgary
The Wings (42-15-5) finally snapped a six game losing streak on Monday in a 4-0 victory over the Avalanche. They hope to earn another win tomorrow night in Calgary (31-22-8), who have won their last two games. Wings prospect Jonathan Ericsson will make his NHL debut in this game thanks to the numerous Detroit injuries on defense (Lidstrom, Rafalski, and Kronwall). The game starts at 9pm EST and will be shown on FSN Detroit. Go Wings!
Saturday, February 23rd vs. Vancouver
Vancouver (30-22-8) are sitting in the eighth seed in the Western Conference with just two more points than Phoenix. Detroit is in first, ten points above the number two seed, Dallas. The game starts at 10pm EST and will be shown on FSN Detroit.
Tuesday, February 26th vs. Edmonton
The trade deadline ends on the 26th at 3pm. Just six hours later, the Oilers and Wings will take the ice. The Oilers are sitting second to last in the Conference with just 59 points. The game begins at 9pm EST and will be shown on FSN Detroit.
Friday, February 29th vs. San Jose
The Wings finally make it back to Detroit after a five game road trip, in which they started out 1-1 against Dallas and Colorado. San Jose currently sits sixth in the Conference with 70 points. This will be the first Detroit game for Wings fans to see the new roster assuming a trade is made by the deadline. The game starts at 7:30pm and will be shown on FSN Detroit.
