Between work and attending a 50th wedding anniversary in South Carolina for the grandparents, I will be without internet access from Thursday afternoon through Sunday evening. And since this blogging platform does not allow timestamped posts, this one GDT will have to serve for the three games (Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday).
Tonight, the LA Kings (22-30-3) are in town tonight at 7:30pm (FSN Detroit) toward the end of their eight game road trip in which they have gone 2-2-1. Detroit (41-10-4) hopes to win its ninth straight game, which would tie a nine game streak earlier this season as well as tie a franchise record. Chris Osgood should get the start and Niklas Kronwall is still out with a sprained clavicle.
On Saturday afternoon at 3pm, the Wings head into Toronto (21-25-9) for what should be a great game between two classic rivals. Once again, the Maple Leafs are struggling and they are currently at the bottom of the Northeast division. From more thoughts from a Toronto perspective, be sure to visit fellow SBN blogger @ Pension Plan Puppets!
The following afternoon at 3:30pm, the Wings come back to Detroit for an afternoon game against the Anaheim Ducks (28-22-7). This will be another good test for Detroit as the Ducks now have Niedermayer AND Selanne back on the roster so it should be a tightly contested game. Due to the "rivalry" forming between the two teams, NBC has picked up this game.
