Tonight marks the sixth time the Chicago Blackhawks (33-29-7) have faced off against the Detroit Red Wings (45-18-6) this season. Chicago currently leads the series 4-1-0 and has dominated many of those games in the past.
Detroit is coming off of its third straight victory over Nashville on Sunday and would obviously like to continue that streak after losing most of their games in February.
Nicklas Lidstrom returned on Sunday from a sprained MCL injury and is expected to play today. Chris Chelios is still out with a chipped fibula. There is a chance he may play tonight, but no one is reporting for sure that he will. Dan Cleary still has a ways to go before he's ready for action after suffering a broken jaw in early February. Tomas Holmstrom missed Sunday's game with a groin injury. An MRI showed that there were no tears so hopefully the inflammation will quickly go away. Homer will not play tonight.
Dominik Hasek is believed to be starting the game, but there is no official report saying this so Chris Osgood may very well be in net tonight.
The Wings face off at 7:30pm tonight at the Joe. You can watch the game on FSN Detroit. Go Wings!
