Filppula Makes Finland Cut

Red Wings forward Valtteri Filppula made the cut for Finland's Olympic team. Filppula's selection may have surprised a few considering he missed a lot of time with injury. Ville Leino did not join him on the list, as many expected following his subpar production so far this season.

Team Canada also revealed its own star studded roster but with the exception of coach Mike Babcock and Steve Yzerman as the head of the team's operations, the Wings are not represented. This really doesn't surprise me with the talent depth of Canada and the Wings having a lot of European players. The only Red Wing that really had a shot was Dan Cleary and that's pretty far-fetched wit the number of guys ahead of him.

We'll recap all of the Olympians once the American roster is finalized and revealed on January 1st and take a look at how our own preview stacks up in comparison.

How do you think Filppula will do in the Olympics? Is it too early to tell with him still taking steps towards getting back in the groove of the NHL or will he be alright despite the injury?
