[Game Thread] Wings @ Flames

After a 6-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers in the ATL, the Detroit Red Wings (48-15-9) will face off against the Calgary Flames (41-24-6) tonight at the Pengrowth Saddledome. The Wings hope to extend their winning streak to five games, and possibly extend what would be a season-high, six-game road winning streak.

With a win last night, the San Jose Sharks grabbed the NHL lead with 106 points in the standings. Detroit has 105. But the nice thing is that both teams are finally equal with games played -- 72. Unfortunately, the Wings have games tonight and Tuesday while the Sharks sit so they'll once again have two games in hand.

On the other hand, the Flames have lost five of their last seven games and are hoping to snap out of it tonight. For more on Calgary, please check out our SBN counterpart at Matchsticks and Gasoline.

The game starts at 9:30 p.m. and will be shown on FSDetroit and TSN for those of you in Canada. Go Wings!
