[GDT] Wings vs. Penguins Game 1

New, comments

After finishing off the Chicago Blackhakws on Wednesday in a close overtime Game 5, the Detroit Red Wings host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at Joe Louis Arena to kick off the Stanley Cup Finals.

Scroll down WIM's front page to see discussion about some of the key matchups on offense, defense, and in net.

Questions coming into the game:

  • Who will play tonight? Captain Nick Lidstrom says he's going to play, but Jonathan Ericsson and Pavel Datsyuk are game-time decisions.
  • Will the short break between the two series be enough time for a banged up Detroit team?
  • Can Chris Osgood keep up his dominant performance against the dangerous Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby?
  • Will this series rematch look similar to last year's first two games at JLA?

The game is slated to start at 8 p.m. EDT, but that likely means the puck will drop around 8:08 p.m. EDT. If you're in the U.S., catch the game on NBC. For all of you Canadians, try CBC and RDS.
