The St Louis Blues are coming to town for the first of 6 meetings against the Red Wings tonight. The Blues raced out of the gates behind the insane goaltending of Jaroslav Halak, but after being the crap kicked out of them by the Blue Jackets 8-1, the Blues have had hit the skids a little, and haven't won in their last 4 games. More importantly, out of those 4 losses, they have given up at least 5 goals in 3 of them, so they are definitely going to want to reverse that trend. The Blues are not a team that scores a ton of goals, so expect them to slow things down, try and keep the Wings to the perimeter, and keep this game a low-scoring affair. The Wings have been impressive on this homestand so far, and are looking to continue to take advantage of an extended period at home.
There's no love lost between these two teams, either on the ice or online. This game is about more than just two divisional rivals: the Wings can take a 4 point lead on the Blues in the division while maintaining their game-in-hand, while the Blues are trying to continue their ascent back to respectability with a strong showing. The Blues had the Wings' number last year, but as the Avalanche found out recently, last year doesn't mean anything anymore.
Game thread is open. Let's remind these Blues fans who still rules this division.
