Happiest of birthdays to the Red Wings legend, Gordie Howe, who turns 82 today.
Howe is synonymous with the Detroit organization and was the heart of The Production Line (non-Petrella/Discher version). Howe played in 1,687 games in Detroit and scored 786 goals and 1,023 assists. Howe also ranks third in career penalty minutes with Detroit at 1,643.
Howe's allure goes beyond just hockey followers though as Cameron Frye sported his jersey in the largely popular Ferris Bueller's Day Off or as Mrs. Krabappel's fictional love interest in an episode of The Simpsons.
So once again, happy birthday to Gordie Howe!
