Detroit comes into San Jose for the opening game of the series, just two days after knocking off the #4 seeded Phoenix Coyotes in the 7th game with a blowout 6-1 in. Detroit will look to keep that offensive stride going against a Sharks team that plays a solid game on both ends of the ice. San Jose has a dangerous attack with Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley as well as numerous secondary scorers that can step up. The biggest key for both teams will be seeing how they adapt to the different styles of play. Colorado didn't put much on net in terms of shots in their series where as Detroit does. Phoenix didn't have nearly the scoring depth that San Jose does.
Two of the most successful teams in the regular season over the past 4 years face-off in San Jose tonight with the series winner advancing to the Conference Finals.
