The Red Wings welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to Joe Louis Arena at 5:00 pm today for the first game of 2011. The Wings are playing just their fifth game against the Eastern Conference today but will have a tough Flyers team to face. The Flyers have a ton of scoring depth and a strong defense to go along with it while the Red Wings are without the services of four regulars at the forward position. Because of those injuries, guys like Jan Mursak and Tomas Tatar have had the opportunity to play. It should be interesting to see how Tatar plays against a tougher team like the Flyers in only his second NHL game.

Jimmy Howard will start in net opposite Brian Boucher of the Flyers as the Red Wings try to pick up their 25th win of the year. Should be a pretty interesting game for the goalies as both offenses are very strong and very capable of producing.
