Well, it was originally supposed to be Chris Osgood's night in net but a sore groin will sideline the veteran netminder and Jimmy Howard will have a back-to-back after a 5-4 shootout win over the Calgary Flames last night. Despite giving up four goals, Howard played strong in the overtime and shootout and got the full two points for Detroit.

As if Osgood going out for tonight's game wasn't enough, Brad Stuart is sidelined for an expected 6-8 weeks with a broken jaw. Stuart going out is a big uh-oh for the Red Wings and they'll need to call on Jakub Kindl to fill in during the time that Stuart will miss.

With Stuart out, Howard and the Red Wing will have a tough task against the highly skilled Vancouver Canucks, lead offensively by the Sedin Twins and Ryan Kesler. The last time these two teams met, Pavel Datsyuk broke his wrist thanks to former Red Wing Mikael Samuelsson's well placed hand on Datsyuk's leg, tripping him up. Win one for the Datsyuk...and the Buckets...and the Stewie...and the Flipper. Oh, and the Mo'.
