Detroit and Boston meet today in a marquee matchup on the network that makes us all wish explosive laryngitis on Pierre McGuire. I'm putting the over/under on Sidney Crosby mentions at 2.5 today, even though he's not playing.
Focusing on the guys who are playing, the two teams come into today very close in the points standings, but not quite so close in a lot of statistical categories. The Bruins have won ten straight, have outscored their competition by 27 goals (to Detroit's 12), puts up 3.3 goals per game (to 2.9) and only allows 2.1 against ( to 2.3). Half of Boston's 10-straight wins (including four straight at one point) say the B's put up at least six goals. Of course two of those were the Islanders, but this is still a club that can put it in the back of the net.
Detroit has good history against the Bruins, having defeated them in back-to-back games last February by a combined score of 10-3.
Comment away and let's go Red Wings.
