News out of Red Wings land is various and reassuring today, as the regular diggers are all reporting that Valtteri Filppula suffered a cut to his right shin just above the lip of his skate in Sunday night's loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Flip tells MLive's Ansar Kahn that he feels fine and can walk normally, but the cut is on a spot where his skate creates pressure on the wound.
"We're working on a skate, trying to get the pressure away from it. I feel fine other than that. ... I can walk normally, so that's obviously a good thing.''
Filppula, who was injured late in the first period, said he plans to start wearing Kevlar socks. He did not practice today at Scottrade Center.
Also of note from Kahn's article is that Jimmy Howard is expected to be back in net for the Red Wings when they take on the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center on Tuesday.
Here's to hoping that the equipment guys can come up with a good solution for Filppula. The Wings looked to really miss the speedy deft stick-handler in their loss to the Avalanche.
