WIIM Fantasy Hockey

With the announcement today that Yahoo Fantasy Hockey is back for the 2011-12 season, millions of fantasy geeks start poring over stats from last year, figuring out whether they want to take Sidney Crosby or Alex Ovechkin with their first overall pick (The correct answer is Pavel Datsyuk).

Therefore, we will be setting up yet another season of Winging It In Motown Fantasy Hockey, and the settings will be very similar to last year. We will have a rookie league (the Mursak League), and a veteran league (the Lidstrom League), but if we have enough people who are interested, we may also have a third league, which we'll call the good-but-not-superstar league (the Filppula League).

Let us know in the comments if you're interested, because we will be setting up the leagues very soon. The leagues will be private and you will need to email me ( for the league info, so that I can ensure that people are only joining once. There will be 20 teams per league, with 4 divisions like last year. The one change we will make is there will only be 1 starting goalie position, since that was a very big complaint from last year and resulted in players like Pascal Leclaire being on someone's team throughout the season (I'm hanging my head in shame at the moment).

So, let's hear from you. Who's interested, and what league are you thinking of joining? I fully expect the two champions from last year to step up and try to defend their titles. Sound off in the comments or shoot me an email.
