Earlier in the month, a fan project from Red Wings blogs called Operation Eaves started with a simple goal: to show injured Red Wings' forward Patrick Eaves that we're pulling for him as he recovers from the head injury he suffered in a game this season by sacrificing his body to block a shot. Our own Josh Howard put those comments together in a poster and collected the gifts/cards to deliver to the Red Wings to give to Eaves.
Today, he received a response from Patrick to share with the fans:
To the Fans:
"I want to thank everyone who sent a get well card or left a message on this website with such encouraging comments. I appreciate everyone keeping me in your thoughts during this tough year for me. Between the cool poster and all the kind words, I was blown away by the best fans in hockey. The cards and comments brought up my spirits and I just want to thank all of you for your support. I look forward to coming back next season."
