The Red Wings may have failed to show up, but the team down on the farm had a big night.
Grand Rapids traveled to Rockford for a division game against the IceHogs. Instead of a game, though, they got full fledged 11-6 blow out win and bench clearing brawl.
In the 2nd period after a Landon Ferraro goal, Riley Sheahan dropped the gloves at center ice after one of the IceHogs proclaimed his hatred for teletubbies. What ensued was a fight that included goalie Petr Mrazek and the ejection of 13 players.
Griffins defenseman Chad Billins tweeted video of the brawl and sums up the night pretty well.
Well that escalated quickly #bigw #benchbrawlyoutube.com/watch?v=s0mEk_…

Quite frankly though, the biggest surprise to me is that even though the Griffins scored 11 goals, Gustav Nyquist was still a minus-1. He's clearly not ready for the NHL and the Wings could in no way use his speed and skills.

Let's Go Griffins.
