McCollum recalled; Mursak, Ericsson, Gustavsson Injury Updates

Totally forgot that injuries existed for a second there.

The season is underway and so are the injuries.

Tomas McCollum has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins to back up Jimmy Howard because Jonas Gustavsson is out with an injured groin.

Jonathan Ericsson is questionable for Mondays game after he got injured by stepping on a puck (derp). According to Khan, he got a sore shoulder after he hit the boards after stepping on the puck.

It also seems that Jan Mursak may miss a significant amount of time. Wings GM Ken Holland said that it's not looking good and he could be out for a while. Mursak said that his injury is "not good" and that further tests will be done on Tuesday. He indicated that it may be a broken Collarbone.

What does this mean for the Wings? Well, the injury to Gustavsson doesn't mean much as long as Howard doesn't get injured because I doubt anyone wants to see McCollum take the ice. Ericsson should be able to play but if not, reports indicate that Kindl may be able to play on Monday, although highly unlikely, and if not, the Wings may have to call up Brian Lashoff from Grand Rapids or offer sheet P.K. Subban (get on it Kenny).

I do feel bad for Mursak though. He missed such a big portion of the last season and was hoping to establish himself this year. Since the season is so short, he may not comeback in time to take back a roster spot from whoever replaced him.

Also, it seems that Patrick Eaves will start in Monday against Columbus which will be his first game back since November 26th, 2011.
