Game Day Updates : Rangers at Red Wings

It's game day!

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood afternoon Winging It In Motown!

I hope everyone has had a good week and is all set to see the Rangers take on the Wings. As mentioned in the morning skate, the Rangers are a team that is struggling beyond belief  which has yet to play a home game. However, there is nothing more dangerous than a desperate team with arguably nothing to lose.

The lines and information from Jeff's morning skate both have not changed, and Carl Hagelin is back from his successful trip to Yost Ice Arena to visit his alma mater at U of M.

What's going to decide this game (besides which team scores more goals, smarty pants) is whether or not the Red Wings gel before the piecemeal Rangers put the puck in the net. Brad Richards seems to have really found his old form, and as mentioned earlier by Jeff, the Wings tend to make unproven goaltenders look very good. Cam Talbot, despite the fact that he's a call-up, is the new backup of the New York Rangers after Martin Biron's sudden retirement. He is very good and had a very nice showing during both the preseason and his start against the Philadelphia flyers.

Tonight's game might be nothing more than watching paint try due to a lack of offense on either side, or it could be a big and beneficial surprise. We will have to wait and see.

Here is tonight's lineup for the New York Rangers:

Chris Kreider Derek Stepan Brad Richards
Benoit Pouliot Derick Brassard J.T. Miller
Taylor Pyatt Brian Boyle Derek Dorsett
Mats Zuccarello Dominic Moore Jesper Fast

Ryan McDonagh Dan Girardi
Marc Staal Anton Stralman
John Moore Michael Del Zotto

Cam Talbot (starting)
Jason Missaen

To compete with Jeff, here is my favorite fun fact of the day, courtesy of Chuck Pleiness at The Macomb Daily:

The Rangers’ last win in Detroit was on Jan. 30, 1999 (3-2).

Here's today's mandatory (and even stupider) fact than the one above:

The Red Wings are 0-4 all-time against NYR on 10/26, all road games.

Both of the above facts are obligatory in any game day post, of course.
