Gameday Updates: Red Wings at Islanders

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Hey you. Yeah, you, I'm talking to you. Did you text KIDS to 85944 yet? You know you want to. The $5 you give this way helps kids a lot, and if lots of people did it, lots of help would go to kids. Yay helping kids! See all the other necessary but cloggy info here.

Red Wings

  • To be quite honest, I'm not getting much in the way of actual news. There are certainly updates, but nothing particularly novel.
  • Pavel Datsyuk is not making the trip to Long Island or Ottawa.
  • Todd Bertuzzi is making the trip. He was working in on the lines during practice yesterday, but I've not seen anything that says he's playing either today or in Ottawa on Sunday.
  • Mike Babcock decided to start a goalie controversy by starting the team's No. 1 goaltender. Howard in net tonight.

  • Calvin de Haan is slotting into the lineup tonight after being recalled from Bridgeport of the AHL. Matt Donovan was sent down in exchange. de Haan is playing in his second career NHL game and has no goals in the NHL so far in his career. Why did the lights suddenly get dim and "O Fortuna" start playing?
  • Islanders' projected lines:

Thomas Vanek
John Tavares
Kyle Okposo
Michael Grabner
Frans Nielsen
Josh Bailey
Brock Nelson
Peter Regin
Cal Clutterbuck
Matt Martin
Casey Cizikas
Pierre-Marc Bouchard

Andrew MacDonald
Travis Hamonic
Radek Martinek
Aaron Ness
Calvin de Haan
Matt Carkner

Kevin Poulin
Evgeni Nabokov

Reminder that today's game is at 4:00pm ET. I wonder if fans got a Black Friday sale on tickets for this game. (Wondering over: they didn't.) Oh well. Hopefully the Red Wings will make them wish they did.
