Stars Blog: Defending Big D

This should be a fun game. The Red Wings will be looking to bounce back from their thrashing by the Jets. The Stars have won two straight after topping the Bruins in a shootout in Tyler Seguin's homecoming. From the few Dallas games I've seen this year, they seem like a team moving in the right direction. They've got their all-star captain in Jamie Benn to go alongside Seguin and their goaltender Kari Lehtonen is pretty good too. In a few years, I think Jim Nill will have this team in the playoffs on a regular basis.

For the Wings, well, they'll once again be missing Johan Franzen due to illness. That guy must be really freakin' sick. Unless illness is code for secret benching or secret injury. Maybe #93 is just a sensitive Mule and public lashing would do more harm than good. Could be some Mike Babcock mind games. Youth will once again be served on the blueline. Future hall of famer Adam Almquist will once again be in the lineup. Darren Helm will continue to re-acclimate himself with the NHL game and pace. The guy I would keep an eye on tonight is Tomas Tatar. He's received some praise lately for his play and he continues to develop into a solid NHL player. Let's hope that continues tonight.

Opponent Outlook

Player to Fear: Jamie Benn. Kid is legit as f*ck.

X-Factor: Tyler Seguin. He's the best. He's going to score 30 goals this year. If he gets any time and space… he will burn you.

Familiar Faces: Ray Whitney now calls Dallas home. He had a quick cup of coffee with the Wings in 2003-04 and put up his lowest points total in a full season since the mid-90s. Oh yeah, Jim Nill works there too.

Thumbs up (One Thing to Like About Dallas): Their new jerseys are awesome.

Thumbs down (One Thing to Dislike About Dallas): They took Nill away from us. Ed Belfour still sucks too.
