Andreas Athanasiou

# Name Pos Team Leauge GP G A Pts +/- PIM
22 Andreas Athanasiou LW/C Barrie Colts OHL 26 12 20 32 +7 30

Since we last met, Athanasious has played 8 games and had 4 goals, 11 assists, 7 PIM, was a +7, 2nd star of the game 3 times, and 1st star of the game twice.

2A (1 EV, 1 PP) and a +1 in a 7-1 win

3A (2 EV, 1 SH), +3, and 1st star of the game in a 8-2 win

5 PIM in a 6-0 win

1G (PP) 1A (power play), -1, and 2nd star of the game in a 3-2 loss

1A (EV) and a +1 in a 2-1 loss

1G (EV), +1, and 1st star of the game in a 5-3 win

1G(EV) +1, and 2nd star of the game in a 3-2 loss to Tyler Bertuzzi and the Storm

1G(EV) 2A (1PP 1EV), +1, and 2nd star of the game in a 5-3 loss.

Athanasiou is on pace for a career high in points and leads his team in that category and is tied for team lead in goals as well. What isn't so impressive, is that he has already tied his career high in penalty minutes (30PIM in 66 games), and he's only played 26 games so far. The types of penalties he's taking indicate to me that it may, and I emphasize "may" since I haven't seen them or know the context, be a lack of discipline issue. The penalties he's taken have been: Cross checking (2) high sticking (1) roughing (2) fighting (2) charging (1) tripping (1) unsportsmanlike conduct (2) and checking from behind (1). I can't draw any definitive conclusions based only on the box scores, but it's jumping out as something I'll be keeping an eye on.

I am encouraged though, because he's now gone 5 games without a penalty, and in those 5 games he's had 8 points (4G 4A) and may very well be back on the right track. We'll have to watch and see. Athanasiou is 26th in the league in points.

The Wings did sign him to his 3 year entry level deal. He's the last of the prospects that have to be signed to their EL contract this year.

Tyler Bertuzzi

# Name Pos Team Leauge GP G A Pts +/- PIM
17 Tyler Bertuzzi LW Guelph Storm OHL 26 7 25 32 +6 42

Since we last met, Bertuzzi has played 8 games and had 2 goals, 7 assists, 7 points, was a +3, and had 10 PIM.

2A (1 EV, 1 PP) in a 9-4 win

1G 1A (both EV) and a +1 in a 4-3 loss

1G (EV) in a 9-3 win

2 PIM in a 4-2 loss

1A (EV) and a +1 in a 62 win

1A (PP), 4 PIM, and a +2 in a 6-0 win

1A(EV), 4 PIM (2 delay of game penalties), and was a -2 in a 4-6 loss

1A(PP) and was a +1 in a 3-2 win over Athanasiou and the Colts

Bertuzzi is making some huge strides forward this year, just look at his stats so far this season, compared to his previous season.

Season Team GP G A PTS +/- PIM
2013-14 Regular Season Guelph Storm 26 7 25 32 +6 42
2012-13 Regular Season Guelph Storm 43 13 9 22 -2 68
2011-12 Regular Season Guelph Storm 61 6 11 17 +2 117
Total: 128 26 43 69 +7 223

He's 5th on his team in points, tied for 2nd in PP goals, and is tied for team lead in assists, and that's on a team that has 4 players in the top 25 scorers in the league. Bertuzzi is 27th in points the league.

During one of the games, the Guelph announcer said this about Tyler Bertuzzi: "I love watching him. He’s tough on the puck, creates opportunities, and works hard. He’s going to look good in Red and White with his Uncle."

The Wings took Tyler in the 2nd round (58th overall) with the bonus pick they got when they traded their 1st round (18th) pick to San Jose for the 1st round (20th) and 2nd round (58th) picks from San Jose. So, basically the Wings traded "down", picked up Mantha, and bot Bertuzzi as a bonus pick. Is Kenny Holland part Jedi?

Kyle interviewed Bertuzzi and watched him play, and his report is fantastic. I give it my 100% stamp of approval.

Philippe Hudon

# Name Pos Team Leauge GP G A Pts +/- PIM
71 Philippe Hudon F Victoriaville Tigres QMJHL 22 8 3 11 -5 39

Since we last met, Hudon played 6 games and had 3 goals, 10 PIM, was a +1 and 11 shots on goal

2 PIM in a 4-2 win

1G (EV), 4 PIM (double minor), was a +1, did not score in the shoot out, and was 2nd star of the game in a 3-2 loss

1G (SH), 3 shots on goal in a 4-1 loss

1G (PP) in an 8-5 win

Hudon didn't get on the stat sheet in a 3-2 loss

2 PIM (slashing) in a 3-2 loss.

Hudon is a kid who is always working, working, working, but his raw talent and skill is relatively low. I like him, and I admire the dedication and perseverance he's had to get this far. The Wings have until August 2015 to sign Hudon, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Mattias Janmark-Nylen

# Name Pos Team Leauge GP G A Pts +/- PIM Hits
26 Mattias Janmark F A.I.K SHL 23 13 8 21 -3 24 6

Since we last met, Janmark played 4 games and had 1 goal, 1 assist, 5 PIM , and had1 hit.

Janmark missed two A.I.K. games after receiving the following hit, and has since returned to playing. His first three games back with A.I.K Janmark played about 2 minute less per game, only getting 18-19 minutes a night. In his last game played though, he was back up to 21:13, which is much more typical of his TOI. Hopefully this means he's fully recovered from the injury. Janmark is still 11th in the SHL in scoring, and everyone ahead of him has played more games. He's also 4th in the SHL in goals with 13. The league leader has 15 goals and has played 3 more games.

AIK rests Janmark - said to be back on Saturday | SHL | Latest News | HockeyExpressen - Elitserien NHL and headlines
Janmark should return Saturday after receiving a nasty-dirty knee-on-knee hit from the Finish team captain Komarov in the Karjala Tournament. He had bleeding in his knee, but luckily his ACL was intact. It appears (hopefully) that his MCL and miniscous are all undamaged as well. He missed A.I.K's games on Tuesday and Thursday.

69 Hampus Melèn RW Tingsryds AIF J20 Superelit 11 0 5 5 -6 14 17 0 34.62

Melèn still hasn't played since October 12th. I have no indication if it's due to an injury, if he's just a healthy scratch, or if there's something else going on.
