"The Detroit Red Wings were not consulted, were not aware of the decision, and found out the same way that everyone else did...." (cont)

"We didn't know it was coming." It was a Fox Sports decision, and not a Detroit Red Wings decision.

The Detroit Red Wings were not made aware in advance, and were not consulted in the decision that was, in whole, Fox Sports' to make.

The Red Wings will likely not be making an official statement on the matter.

This certainly does clarify things at least a little bit. There had been speculation about whether the Wings were involved in this decision at all (as they certainly would have the authority to push a move such like this if that was their wish). According to Petrella's source, that is not the case.
