Wings at Hawks Game Day Updates

Want to know something cool? Swedish forward Alexander Wennberg scored a goal by dropping the puck out of his hockey pants. The puck got lodged in his pants, he skated behind the goalie, and wiggled the puck out of his pants and into the net. The goal stood.

The Dirt

There was an optional skate this morning and not much happened. However, I don't want to leave you out in the cold, so In the absence of actual news, here are a couple completely made up headlines.

  • Johan Franzen will not play tonight after he was suspended for 1.5 games for taking a sucker out of Patrick Kane's mouth and throwing it on the ground. When asked by league head of player safety, Brendah Shanahan, why he did it, Franzen replied

He kept saying that Wings fans hate me because they wish I was Hossa. I just reached over and grabbed the sucker from him, it was too easy. It was like taking candy from a baby.

  • Darren Helm may be out for the rest of the season, but that didn't stop him from streaking onto the ice during the Blackhawks morning skate. While the Hawks players ran practice drills, Helm skated onto the ice and proceeded to steal the puck from a surprised Toews.

I'm the Captain here, Toews said blankly, and I seriously didn't expect this. He just skated over to where we were working on power play drills, took the puck from us, and spent the next 30 seconds skating around us in our zone and refusing to give us the puck back.
