Wings in Vancouver Game Day Updates

Who's in, who's out, who's up, who's down, and who's playing with who.

The Dirt

Jordin Tootoo will return to the lineup in place of Patrick Eaves

Brian Lashoff, Ian White, and Carlo Colaiacovo will be the healthy sates on defense again. It still feels a little weird to have so many healthy scratches on defense, but it's a nice problem to have.

Babcock is splitting Datsyuk and Zetterberg up, at least to start the game. Alain Vigneault is one of the best coaches when it comes to line management and getting favorable match ups, combine that with the fact that he'll have last change, and Datsyuk and Zetterberg on different lines may be better for the Wings. We'll see how long the lines stay intact though.

Wings had an optional skate this morning and everyone attended... Well, everyone except Babcock, Cleary, Kronwall, and Filppula.

Bertuzzi is still hoping to be able to play in the next couple games, but he also said

"You don’t want to come in and disrupt, you want to make sure that you’re actually ready to go,'' Bertuzzi said. "You don’t want to be a hitch, so I have to make sure that I’m more than ready, because we have a lot of healthy bodies. "The team is bigger than the individual, so we’ll see what happens."

Bertuzzi said his leg it much better, and he has about 70% of his strength back. I like hearing this from Bertuzzi, because it tells me he's not going to just try to get well enough to "just play", he knows he has to be "more than ready" and is thinking of what's best for the team.

Cory Schneider will start tonight for the Canucks and is 0-1 career against Detroit.

We won't have to see those awful "millionaires jerseys" this time.

Slightly off topic, Joey MacDonald signed a 1 year, 925k deal with Calgary today. He's played 18 games this year, going 7-7-1 and posting a 2.91 GAA and .900 SV%. I'm happy that Joey Mac is finally getting his chance to play in the NHL. He was a hard working team player with a great attitude when he was with the Wings, he wanted a chance to really play in the NHL, and he's getting it. Go Joey Mac!

Game starts at 10:00 EST. Also know as "I'm going to be so freaking tired when I have to get up for work in the morning but there's no way I can sleep while the game is going on". 10:00 is just shorter to write.

Fun Facts:

The Red Wings have scored 13 goals in 2 games against Vancouver this season, Roberto Luongo was in net for all of them.

Detroit continues to kick ass in the man games lost to injury competition (it is a competition, right? RIGHT?) Score: Detroit 228, Vancouver 141.

Today In Red Wings History

April 20, 1994- Chris Osgood recorded his first career postseason shutout in a 4-0 win over the San Jose Sharks

April 20, 2008- On their way to capturing the Stanley Cup, the Red Wings sent Nashville back home in game 6 of the first round, thanks for a Nick Lidstrom shorthanded game winning goal, and a shutout by Osgood.

Bonus: That Nashville shutout by Chris Osgood was his first of 3 in that playoff season. He would go on to record 2 more (back to back) against Pittsburgh in games 1 and 2.
