The first period could have gone better for the Wings, but it also could have gone much worse. Penalties were the story of a chippy and broken period. Detroit got a 5-on-3 and refused to shoot the puck on net. The Ducks took the momentum and got some makeups. Detroit will still have to kill off two seconds of a penalty to start the second.
Franzen has looked good, as has Datsyuk. Zetterberg, Ericsson, and Kronwall played well. Quincey, Brunner, Filppula, and Nyquist all seemed to be gripping their sticks a bit tight. Kindl and Lashoff were a little frightening, as was Emmerton.
Sammy is fucking mean. I like him.
